Energy Conservation
Most energy is currently produced by the burning of fossil fuels. This pollutes the atmosphere contributing to global warming, air pollution and acid rain. We can reduce energy consumption by using it more efficiently.
Here are some suggestions as to how you can reduce your energy use which will help to reduce your fuel bills.
- Use energy saving light bulbs
- Draught proof doors
- Insulate lofts
- Insulate external walls
- Fit hot water jacket to the water tank
- Have showers instead of baths where possible
- Don’t put a fridge/freezer next to a cooker
- Lower slightly the temperature setting of the central heating
- Fit double glazing
The major improvement programme being delivered by Trent & Dove Housing as part of its promises to tenants made at the time of transfer from the East Staffordshire Borough Council is already addressing some of these initiatives but you can still help where it is appropriate.
Free Water Saving Shower Smarts
Our Contractor eaga has a supply of water saving devices that are available, free of charge to our tenants as part of a government initiative to help save energy.
The Shower Smarts work on non-electric mixer showers or bath/shower mixer taps and prevent unnecessary water waste. This can save water and energy and can also save you money on your water and gas bills without the flow of water from your shower feeling any different.
Please contact Amy Hicks on 01283 528574 if you would like eaga to send you your free Shower Smart device.
