Fire Safety
Remember -Smoke Alarms can save lives.
The alarm will provide a warning about dense smoke, it will NOT stop fires!
Where you have a mains powered smoke alarm check it every week.
- Remove cobwebs or dust from the alarm with a vacuum cleaner nozzle or dry cloth
- Check that the GREEN mains indicator light is on
- Check that the RED light behind the test button flashes (approx. once every 40 seconds)
- Press the test button for about 10 seconds to make sure it sounds
- Report any problems to your local office immediately
Where you have a battery-powered alarm -test it regularly according to the manufacturers instructions. DO NOT REMOVE batteries from smoke alarms to use in other appliances. It is YOUR responsibility to replace the batteries.
