Advice and Information

Home Security

  • Always lock doors and windows when you leave your home unoccupied
  • Always check the identity of callers before you let them into your home
    • Ask to see their ID cards
    • Still not sure? - Phone your local office
  • Always, if going away, cancel milk & paper deliveries
  • Never leave keys under mats or hanging on a string behind the letterbox
  • Never leave the front door open, if living in a block of flats with a door entry system

If you would like more information regarding Home safety/Security, contact your local Crime Prevention Officer.

They will be able to advise you of any local neighbourhood watch schemes in operation and how to go about setting one up in your area if there is not one currently operational.
