Only tenants that have transferred from East Staffordshire Borough Council have a Preserved Right to Buy (PRTB) their home. These rights would remain with you or any member of your family who took over your tenancy even if you moved to another home, which was owned by Trent & Dove Housing Limited (as long as the property was not exempt from Right to Buy).
If you have the “PRTB”, and later moved to a Council home within another district you would still have the right to buy and any discounts would include time spent as a tenant of Trent & Dove Housing Limited.
Other tenants of Trent & Dove (including existing tenants transferring from the Council and new tenants) would also be able to buy their home under the Right to Aquire scheme as long as certain conditions were met. However, the Right to Aquire is not usually available in certain designated rural areas broadly where there are fewer than 3000 homes.

Shared Ownership Guide
Want to own your own home?
If you want to buy a home but don’t think you can afford to then think again. With the help of shared ownership you may be able to make that leap onto the property ladder that you have always dreamed of.
What is shared ownership?
Shared ownership was introduced to help people who cannot afford to buy a home outright. Through shared ownership you buy a share of the property and pay a rent on the remaining share you do not own. Gradually you may buy further shares and eventually own your home outright.
Trent & Dove Housing is currently developing sites in Burton and Uttoxeter that will offer shared ownership opportunities.
