If you have a change in your circumstances and you wish to move home, contact your local office. You will be required to complete a transfer application form. Remember that there may be a waiting list for properties in your specified area or for the type of accommodation that you have requested.
Eligibility
- Your rent account must be clear
- You must have occupied your existing property for 12 months before you can apply for transfer
- Your property must be well maintained
- Your property does not become overcrowded or under occupied as a result of the transfer
- You have not been in breach of tenancy with Trent & Dove or another landlord
- The property must be suitable for your needs. (Some of our properties have special adaptations to cater for disabilities. They will only be allocated to those who specifically have a need for those facilities).
Mutual Exchange
YOU may exchange your home with another tenant. They do not necessarily have to be a Trent & Dove tenant.
- It is your responsibility to find another tenant to exchange your property with
- Eligibility conditions will apply to you as a Trent & Dove tenant and the person with whom you wish to exchange
- Trent & Dove now subscribe to the Homeswapper service and you should register your details for mutual exchange on their website. As Trent & Dove subscribe to the service, you will not be charged.To register for Homeswapper, click on this link.
Once you have found someone to exchange with, tell your local office. You will then be given details of the procedure and visits will be undertaken to ensure that all parties understand what is required.
If the exchange is acceptable to all parties, written confirmation will be given by Trent & Dove
If you are a tenant that transferred from East Staffordshire Borough Council and you wish to pursue a mutual exchange, you will need to obtain a letter from Trent & Dove Housing to ensure that your contractual rights are transferred with you.
The full implications of taking over another tenant’s Tenancy Agreement will be explained to you by your local office. They will also give you information regarding the different types of Tenancy Agreements, rent settings applicable to the different types of tenancy and any effect on succession rights.

Once you have completed their application, you will be able to search their website for a list of potential swaps and receive information on potential mutual exchanges. (Please note that Trent & Dove& now subscribe to the Homeswapper facilities and you will not have to pay to use the service).
