Free event to highlight floating support available to the over 55's
To highlight the variety of support and help available within East Staffordshire, Trent & Dove Housing is organizing a free event at the Town Hall in Burton on Tuesday 20th July.
Anyone aged 55 and over will be welcome to attend the sessions which will run from 10.30am until 12.30pm in the morning and from 1.30pm until 3.30 in the afternoon. There is no charge for admission with free refreshments and entertainment provided. Exhibitors from a variety of support agencies will be on hand to give advice on the help available for those who may need support with things like debt management, help in establishing personal safety and security and those who wish to adopt a more healthy life style.
The floating support service can provide free guidance and support on a range of topics including maximizing income, assistance with completing forms, help in gaining access to other services, assistance to access social activities and on maintaining independent lifestyles. Trent & Dove’s life-saving, firstCall 24/7 community alarm response service will demonstrate the advances in ‘telecare’ technology that can help people to remain independent within their own homes.
There is a dedicated phone line for people to register their interest and book a place, which will be available from Monday 28th June until Friday 2nd July between the hours of 10am and 4pm, 01283 528628.
Senior Floating Support Worker, Gail Topliss said, “I would like people to see this as an exciting, informative and enjoyable event to raise the awareness of the different types of support that is available for older people. We hope to reach out to the wider community as the day is open not only to Trent & Dove’s tenants but to all older people within East Staffordshire.”
