The Board of Directors were treated to a Board Stock Tour yesterday of some of the Trent & Dove properties and developments. For some of those on board it was the first time that they had explored the areas and communities.
Departing from Trinity Square the coach set off for the “poets” estate where all streets are named after famous poets and the cream cladded houses, still keep their traditional brick work.
Next was a visit to the Warwick Street Community Garden a thriving garden and allotments where all produce is donated to the YMCA food bank and supports the community cafés in Stapenhill and Winshill. The project is run by volunteers and they often craft jars of pickles for the Trent & Dove employees to purchase.
Driving through Stapenhill, all could see Hampden House, the first housing accommodation with a row of shops below. The coach then stopped at Sycamore Court, where all on board stretched their legs to visit Cherrytree Road and an example of a garage infill where three houses were built in 2009/10.
The final destination of the grand tour was Winshill and a visit to the Wishes for Winshill Community Café for a cracking cup of tea! The café is run by volunteers / residents of Winshill and all takings are used to provide family fun for families within the community.
The tour was an overall success and new members of the Board were enlightened to see the homes and communities in action.
