Trent & Dove Housing has once again celebrated the awe- inspiring achievements of their tenants and associated community groups at the annual ‘Impact on the Community Awards’.
Each year, in recognition of the vital work carried out by individual residents and local support agencies, Burton’s largest provider of social housing holds the event to celebrate unsung community champions and shine a spotlight on the projects which are ‘transforming homes, lives and neighbourhoods’ across East Staffordshire and South Derbyshire.
Held at the Pirelli Stadium, guests were given the full red carpet treatment befitting their status as outstanding members of the community.
This year, there was a surprise host of the event – Sally Gunnell OBE, sports presenter and former track and field athlete who won the 1992 Olympic gold medal in the 400m hurdles.
Local Olympic Hero Adam Peaty received a special recognition award for his World Record 100m Breaststroke swim in Rio earlier this year and putting Uttoxeter firmly on the map. Adam’s grandmother Mavis, a long standing Trent & Dove Housing tenant and now something of a social media superstar thanks to her #OlympicNan twitter feed, was on hand to accept the award on his behalf.
Speaking with pride at the quality of this year’s entrants, Ursula Bennion, Chief Executive of Trent & Dove Housing said:
“Local residents do some amazing work to help create vibrant communities and make their neighbourhoods great places to live.
The awards are a small way in which we can say ‘thank you’ to those who give up their time and efforts freely to work within their community.
This year, the standard of entry has been exceptional. With almost twice the number of nominations of previous years, I know that the independent judging panel had a really hard job in picking the winners for each of the 9 categories.
Special thanks also go to all our partners who sponsored this fantastic event. Without their generosity it would not be possible to applaud the sterling work our residents and community groups do in such a way.”
The entertainment for the evening was sponsored by the Federation of Residents Associations. Our thanks also go to Pirelli Stadium and to Sweet Memory Lane of Ashby for their amazing sweet tree centre piece on tables.
