Transfer of the ESBC Allocations and Lettings Service
East Staffordshire Borough Council (ESBC) has confirmed that the Allocations and Lettings Service will transfer to direct Council management from early 2027. The change is part of ESBC’s work to make sure housing services are provided in a way that supports residents and applicants.
All elements of the Allocations and Lettings function, including housing applications, the prioritisation of applicants, property advertising and shortlisting for offers, will be fully managed by East Staffordshire Borough Council staff.
We, Trent & Dove, will still retain the ownership and management of our homes and continue to deliver new homes, aligned with our strategic plan.
As part of the transition, the Allocations Policy will be reviewed later in 2026. A resident consultation will take place over the summer to ensure it meets the borough's needs in the coming years.
ESBC have formally thanked Trent & Dove for providing the service on their behalf for the last 25 years. ESBC and Trent & Dove will be there to support residents now and in the future.
Cllr Simon Slater, Cabinet Member for Communities and Regulatory Services at ESBC, said:
“Bringing the Allocations and Lettings Service under direct Council management will support integration with all the Council’s housing functions and help ensure the service continues to work effectively for residents and applicants. Throughout the transition, we will carefully maintain a continuity of service."
Residents and applicants will continue to access services as normal for the time being. ESBC is implementing a comprehensive project plan alongside Trent & Dove to manage the transition, including staff training, system updates, and improved customer communication channels.
Further updates will be shared on our website and across our social channels. We may also contact applicants directly.
