Festive noise advice

Festive noise can be a big part of the holiday season, especially with Christmas and New Year celebrations.

We understand that many of our customers will have additional visitors over the holiday period and often more than any other time of the year. For Trent & Dove to investigate these as noise nuisance complaints, we would need evidence of repeated and sustained incidents and not a one-off noise nuisance.

The holidays are a time for celebration, but it’s important that we’re all mindful of how our activities might affect others and the community environment that we share.

By being considerate and responsible, we can all enjoy a festive and joyful holiday season.

To help with this, here’s some advice for the festive period:

Consider your neighbours

If you’re planning to host a festive gathering with music, fireworks or other noisy activities, be considerate of your neighbours, especially during the late hours.

Let them know about your plans in advance and try to keep the noise down to a reasonable level, especially late at night.

Respect local regulations

Be aware of any local noise regulations that may be in place, especially regarding the use of fireworks or other loud activities.

Many areas have specific rules about when and where fireworks can be used.

Pet safety

Be mindful of the impact of loud noises on pets, especially during New Year celebrations when fireworks are common. Keep pets indoors, create a safe and quiet space for them and consider using products designed to reduce anxiety in pets during noisy events.

Clean up afterwards

If you are using fireworks or any other party materials, be sure to clean up afterwards. Dispose of fireworks and related paraphernalia properly and consider any environmental impact of noise making activities.
