New legislation to make information clearer and easier to access

From October 2026, UK housing providers – including Trent & Dove – will be required to publish clear and accessible information about how homes, tenancies and services are managed.

The changes form part of a new national initiative designed to support residents in understanding their housing services.

Known as Social Tenants’ Access to Information (STAIRs), the requirements will help customers access key information more easily and improve transparency across the sector. At Trent & Dove, we’re building on the information already available on our website to make it even simpler to find, understand and use.

What is STAIRs?

STAIRs is a national approach that focuses on making it easier for customers to:

  • Find information about how homes and services are managed
  • Understand how decisions are made
  • See how we are performing as a landlord
  • Hold us to account.

It covers a wide range of information, including details about our leadership team, how rent and service charge income is spent, our policies and plans, and how our services are performing.

Key dates to be aware of

The changes will be introduced in two stages:

  • From 1 October 2026 – more information will be published and made available without the need to request it.
  • From 1 April 2027 – customers will be able to formally request specific information about how homes and services are managed.

Ahead of April 2027, we will provide clear guidance on how to make a request and what to expect.

Making information accessible for everyone

We’re committed to ensuring information is accessible and easy to understand. This includes offering:

  • Information in alternative formats such as large print or audio
  • Translation support where needed
  • Help for customers who need assistance accessing or understanding information.

What happens next

We’ll continue to update our website in the coming months, providing more detail on:

  • What information is available
  • Where to find it
  • How to request additional information when the new process launches.
