Trent & Dove hosts event in support of White Ribbon Day 2023

White Ribbon

Customers and staff of Trent & Dove are invited to take part in our White Ribbon Day event – aimed at supporting women and girls to lead full lives, free from the fear of violence, at its Burton office next Thursday 23 November.

Our brand-new, brightly coloured Coffee Connect trailer will be parked up at Trinity Square between 11am and 2pm for colleagues and customers to pop along.  As well as a free drink and goodies donated by our partner, Holland & Barrett, attendees can chat with and receive advice from Trent & Dove’s tenancy sustainment and safeguarding team about the White Ribbon campaign.

This year’s campaign, which will be officially marked on Saturday 25 November, is encouraging individuals and organisations to make consistent choices and actions to #ChangeTheStory for women and girls, so that they may live their lives free from the fear of violence. Pledge posters will be available at the event for people to sign up in support and have their photograph taken, which can then be shared across social media using the hashtag, #ChangeTheStory.

Trent & Dove, which owns more 6,000 homes across East Staffordshire, South Derbyshire, and Northwest Leicestershire, joined the campaign in February and formed a working group, led by Support Manager, Emma Bailey, and sponsored by Neighbourhoods Director, Martyn Hale.

Martyn Hale, said:

This year’s campaign message is about not underestimating the power of being an ally to women and recognising that the smallest actions, like a conversation, can affect the biggest change. So, I’d encourage customers and colleagues to come along and find out more about the support on offer and how they too can get involved in ending the harmful culture of male violence against women.

White Ribbon UK is delivering a series of webinars for people to learn about the importance of male allyship with practical strategies for stopping violence before it starts and issues related to violence against women and girls.
