Trent & Dove receives G1, V2 and C2 grades following regulatory inspection
The judgement confirms that Trent & Dove continues to meet the regulator’s governance and financial viability requirements. G1 is the highest governance grade. V2 is the second-highest viability grade and reflects the Board’s conscious decision to continue an ambitious development programme while investing in existing homes and providing much-needed new homes. It confirms that the organisation meets viability requirements and has the financial capacity to deal with a reasonable range of adverse scenarios while managing material risks.
This is Trent & Dove’s first assessment against the consumer standards introduced in April 2024. A C2 grade means that some weaknesses have been identified in the delivery of those standards and improvement is needed.
The regulator recognised important strengths, including Trent & Dove’s understanding of the condition of its homes, effective landlord health and safety arrangements, its proactive approach to damp and mould, and meaningful opportunities for customers to influence services and scrutinise performance. It also found that homes are allocated and let in a fair and transparent way and that Trent & Dove supports customers to maintain their tenancies.
The regulator identified areas where further improvement is needed, including repairs and grounds maintenance, complaints handling, the response to anti-social behaviour, data quality, and the consistent use of customer information to assess fair outcomes. Trent & Dove had already recognised these priorities and begun work; the regulator now needs to see sustained evidence that the improvements are embedded and delivering better outcomes.
The judgement recognised progress from work already underway. Trent & Dove is determined to deliver its improvement plan and demonstrate sustained progress in services and customer outcomes.
Ursula Bennion, Chief Executive of Trent & Dove, said: “We welcome the recognition of our strong governance, financial resilience and the important work already taking place across Trent & Dove. We are pleased that the regulator has recognised strengths in how we understand and maintain our homes, keep customers safe and involve them in shaping and scrutinising services.
“We are also clear that C2 is not where we want to remain. The judgement gives us a clear basis for further improvement. Our focus now is to build on work already underway, deliver our improvement plan at pace and demonstrate sustained, better outcomes for customers.
“Thank you to our customers, colleagues, Board members and partners who contributed to the inspection and who continue to help us improve.”
Trent & Dove has an improvement plan in place and will track delivery, demonstrate sustained progress and keep the regulator updated as the work continues.
