Sustainable Building Services: Supporting the Community Impact Awards

Sustainable Building Services

We are proud to be sponsoring the ‘Charitable Organisation of the Year’ category at this year’s Trent & Dove Community Impact Awards, a ceremony held to recognise the people and organisations who are making a tangible difference across East Staffordshire, South Derbyshire and North West Leicestershire.

As a principal retrofit contractor working at the heart of housing improvement and energy efficiency within these areas, we understand that thriving neighbourhoods rely not only on quality homes, but on the charities and community groups that support residents every day.

Improving homes, health and financial resilience

Our partnership with Trent & Dove is underpinned by a shared focus on improving residents’ quality of life. Through the delivery of planned works and energy efficiency upgrades, we aim to enhance comfort, reduce fuel poverty and create healthier living environments.

To date, we have delivered improvements to more than 110 properties through our work with Trent & Dove across both the Social Housing Decarbonisation Fund (SHDF) Demonstrator and SHDF Wave 2.1 schemes, with the latter part of the Matrix Housing Partnership. Building on this foundation, we are currently delivering a Warm Homes: Social Housing Fund (WH:SHF) Wave 3 scheme, which will bring energy efficiency measures to over 400 further properties, representing a significant step forward in improving the housing stock across the region.

These programmes are about more than aesthetic changes. By increasing energy performance and reducing heat loss, we help residents manage energy costs more effectively while contributing to Trent & Dove’s long-term sustainability objectives.

Delivering meaningful social value

Alongside our core works, we are committed to delivering added social value within the communities we serve. Our contributions have included donations to local foodbanks, sustaining at least four full-time jobs and providing training opportunities for local people. We have also produced dedicated resident information sheets for households to better understand the benefits of the energy efficiency measures being installed in their homes, ensuring that improvements translate into real, everyday gains for the people who matter most.

Beyond our direct workforce, we are proud to have supported skills development through our supply chain, including two plumbing apprenticeships and one electrical apprenticeship, helping the next generation of tradespeople within the local area.

We believe investment in homes should deliver a broader legacy, whether that is through skills development, community partnerships or targeted support for vulnerable households.

Celebrating charitable leadership

The Charitable Organisation of the Year category highlights the essential role charities play in addressing challenges such as fuel poverty, food insecurity, social isolation and access to support services. Many of the issues these organisations tackle intersect directly with housing and living conditions, making their work critical to community wellbeing. We are honoured to support the Community Impact Awards and to celebrate the finalists at the ceremony on Thursday 7 May.

We look forward to continuing our partnership with Trent & Dove, ensuring that investment in homes delivers lasting, measurable impact for residents and the wider community.
